Infection Control Workshop - Vibe Hotel, Sydney - Popular Infection Control Workshop will be held again on Saturday 14th August - 9.00am - 4.30pm at the Vibe Hotel, Sydney There was such a demand for a repeat of our last workshop, we are bringing you once again the opportunity to hear the latest and accurate information from our very experienced and popular presenter - Ms Terry McAuley. ^ Terry represents the Infection Control Association on the Committee which advises Standards Australia on Infection Control Standards. She has extensive experience in this area for dental and medical and is a consultant for sterilisation and infection control having presented numerous papers nationally & internationally on this subject.
Participants from our April day workshop were delighted with the amount of information they could take back to their practices and how interesting the presenter made the day.

The program includes Legislation requirements, how disease is transferred, What are we protecting against? PPE, Hand hygiene, alcohol rubs, Staff Imunisation, Cleaning & disinfecting – which product? Manual, Ultrasonic, Thermal cleaners, Sterilisation & monitoring, tracking & validating, Record keeping, Injury management & reporting.
Participants may also undertake a short written assessment to gain a Statement of Attainment in HLTIN301A - Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work.

Implant Workshop - Nobel Biocare - Macquarie Park - The Team Approach to Achieving Optimal Implant Results - Saturday 14th August 8.00am - 3.00pm
Nobel Biocare and NSW DAA join together to provide an extensive presentation covering all aspects of how to attain predictable outcomes for today's patients with a strong emphasis on the importance of a team approach and the interaction between clinicians and auxiliary staff.^ This course is suitable for practitioners and staff to attend as a team or individual registrations. Presenters include Dr Justin Darby, Dr Markijan Hupalo, Ms Vivien Munoz-Ferrada and Ms Rosalyn Dunbar. This full day program includes - assessment for Implant Dentistry, increasing implant case acceptance, Surgical setup protocols and procedures, a restorative approach to surgical placement of implants, planning, placement and restoration: the advantage of a team approach, Troubleshooting – surgical/prosthetics, Introduction to CT & Cone Beam Scans, Hands on exercises for clinicians and auxiliary staff – implant placement & impressions.

OH&S in the Dental Setting - The NSW DAA conducts a half day training session addressing the OH&S requirements in Dental Settings and provides a comprehensive handbook to surgeries requiring assistance in formatting policies and "getting started". An online health and safety guide is now also available.^

This follows the new Occupational Health & Safety Act 2000 and Regulations 2001.

If your surgery would like inhouse training and assistance, covering such topics as understanding the new legislation, consultation process, risk assessment and management, policies and procedures, recordkeeping and other related topics, please contact us.

The NSW Dental Assistants' Association has developed an Occupational Health & Safety Handbook for Dental Surgeries which is available to all dental clinics to help them in the implementation of OH&S Policies and Procedures now required by legislation. This handbook is written in conjunction with the Workcover Assist program and has NSW Workcover approval.
